Wildlife update.

Crows have moved into the neighborhood. They've been landing on a nearby water tower and rooftop, what I think is a mated pair, and letting the rest of the birds know they're staking out their homestead. The local sparrows and pigeons are unimpressed, being the New York City residents they are; the red-tailed hawks are somewhat more peeved at this development.

It's nicest in the morning. Especially this time of year - crows calling out against gray skies, it's exactly what I think of when I think of autumn and winter mornings.

It briefly rained here. I got to watch it out my front window, where I can still see the last yellow leaves hanging onto the trees that border the cemetery across from my new home. It was the essence of an autumn afternoon.

I maintain cemeteries are more soothing and comforting than most people would give them credit for. That sounds like a lovely view.

They're so charming, even if they're not always terrifically sociable.

Well, I need to make some art for a holiday show, and I was considering doing some quick paintings of crows, and now -- yes.

Yes, definitely crows.
