The wreck of '86.
The first day of work started a half-hour later than what my usual time will be, and ended a half-hour early as well. It's going to be a rather nasty adjustment come Sunday nights, but I think I can handle things.
What's proving more difficult is that there's no staff kitchen area. There's a pretty nice cafeteria, but no sort of pantry-type space with a fridge for people to put their lunches until lunchtime. A lot of offices have miniature fridges, for use by the residents, but even with that in mind, I can't bring outside food into the cafeteria. I'm going to need to keep looking around to find a decent place to eat lunch that isn't my desk. And a place to keep it until lunchtime, too.
Enough of the staff is generous and fun I feel comfortable characterizing the whole of the organization as such. The walk back through the park gives me a fabulous view of the Hudson, and it's enough to wash me clean of being cooped up inside offices without decent coffee all day.
It's going to be a long three months, but I have hopes they'll be good ones.
