Inevitability.

Yesterday morning, my first clear thought was, "Summer's over." I knew it was about that time, and it still didn't quite make sense - it was a little cold, sure, but not an appreciable amount less than the day before. And it got warm and sunny midmorning and stayed that way until evening. I thought, maybe not quite yet.

Today, there were pumpkins at the greenmarket. And there's no arguing with the pumpkins: autumn's arrived.
