Does anyone else remember gratuitous icon posts? It's really interesting to come to icons over on DW and adding them gradually out of the ones I'm using on LJ. I know eventually I'll have icons on DW I never used on LJ, and I feel like that's going to signify something, although I'm not quite sure what that's going to be.
In other news: August went out with a suitable bang, a thirty-minute empty-the-sky thunder and lightning downpour spectacular. I've only seen a few of those before, and at least this time I wasn't afraid of it. Not for the lightning or the thunder or the fear of getting caught out in it, but for how very different it is from what I know. Rain in summer, in general. That sort of rain, even more so. There's something very frightening about being confronted with such a strong, visceral reminder that where you're living isn't playing by the rules of what you know from where you come from. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for the rain. It keeps the greenmarkets in tomatoes and the parks in frogs. I just need another few storms to adjust to it.
Hopefully another one will come soon, because good lord, but was today sticky to the point of disgusting.
