Tomatoes and pearls.
The job interview I had this morning went well enough - I wasn't their first choice for the position, but I made a good enough impression that they called me in to see if they wanted to hire me when the guy they originally picked for the job has to return to his teaching gig in a couple of weeks. Even if I don't get it, though I hope I will, it was nice to know 'we'll keep your CV on file' does sometimes still happen.
Additionally, the interview was in southern Manhattan, right near Wall Street, so what I did when it was over wasn't head right back to my apartment, but go to the Union Square farmer's market instead. Without changing, because there wasn't any point. So I went to the farmer's market dressed to impress, and took great pleasure in doing my usual shopping for eggplant and salsa and maple syrup in such a state.
And that right there is what makes the day worthwhile.
