Inspired by the markets where I buy my eggs.

It would take at least twenty minutes to get all the sneering out of his system, but once that’s over and done with, Ron Swanson would be the second-biggest supporter for a farmer’s market in Pawnee, even ahead of Chris Traeger, only behind Leslie herself who suggested it to begin with.

There’s not much that can better warm a staunch libertarian’s heart than businessmen who want to cut out the middleman and big government and big agriculture as much as possible. People that have an honest, uncomplicated relationship with the meat they sell and looked it in the eye for months before slaughtering and butchering it. A very pure entrepreneurial enterprise, the farmers growing and harvesting the food selling it right to the customers who are going to eat it without anyone coming between them. No shortage of people who think the government has gone too far in one direction or another - in either case, there needs to be some serious reformatting of the current platform if not doing away with it altogether and replacing it with something more sensible. This is a man who gets his milk delivered by horse. He’d like hearing about small diverse farms managing to support themselves in the face of bloated government-funded subsidized corn fields.

Not to mention the fact that meat CSAs are a thing, and the look on everyone’s faces when he gets a quarter of a cow delivered to the office would make the whole thing worth it.

This is so, so true! I sometimes think Ron Swanson's libertarianism is way more intellectually coherent than many many non-fictional libertarians'.
