Took it long enough.

In honor of the first snow of the season - the first real snow of the season, now gone under all the rain, but it was here and glorious - I made some lapsang souchong, a perfect smoky counterpoint to the cold outside.

It lasted about four hours, all through the afternoon. My dad, my brother, and I walked through it for a while, on our way across Central Park to get to the Guggenheim and on our way back. There was a lot of joy in being out in it, even when it was the hard near-hail of a wintry mix; it was still creaking underfoot, a gentle cold. It never let up while we were in the museum, and there was joy in that too, because whenever we'd come by a window - and because it's a spiral, you can't see them coming - it'd still be coming down, and watching snow through a window, no matter where it is, is simply wonderful.

Like I said, it's now gone under the rain. There should be more rain tomorrow, and clear skies Friday. A slim chance of snow again on Saturday. And as always with snow, I wait with hope.

Mmm, lapsang souchong. I grew up on that stuff.

This sounds so amazing. I'd love to live in a place where it snows for a while, just to experience everyday things like walking across it and smelling it and seeing it falling. :)

Sounds lovely. I grew up with lots of snow every year until 1984 when I moved to FL. I've only seen it in pictures since then. I miss playing in it, but not living with it so much.
