hannah: (Fruit - truntles)

First of the month, two days late.

Of everything I miss about California, high on the list is fresh citrus. I got some oranges for a sweet bread I made a couple of weeks back, deliberately buying a couple more than I knew I'd need because it's so rare for me to buy citrus at all. I know it's there, and I almost never buy any. It's like buying any isn't an option.

Does anyone else feel this way about certain foods? That for one reason or another, they just almost never leave the store with you?

Fish are that way for me too - I try to avoid the worry and guilt over sustainability and biodiversity by buying them once every three months or so, and even then it's small ones like herring and anchovies. I guess the Worcestershire sauce I got today counts as my fish purchase up until September: there's anchovies in there, too, which I hadn't expected and don't really like but still prefer to high-fructose corn syrup.

In completely unrelated news, [livejournal.com profile] werewolfbigbang is posting the current round of fics, none of which I have any interest in reading. I know werewolves have their own associated tropes in fandom nowadays, and I know people enjoy working with things that hit their kinks and push their buttons, but goddamn it, why do so many people think it'd kill them to do actual research on wolves?
