Major works.

One of the more gratifying moments of my internship came last Friday. Now, for context, I was talking to someone sitting sitting at the desk in the main library where I used to do the cataloging work, right underneath the thousands of books I inventoried one at a time.

There's a multi-artist show coming soon, with most of them already represented by the gallery in some way, and I recognized some of the names from the work I've done. So I told her I was looking forward to seeing the pieces by Detlef Henrichs, since I liked what I'd seen of his photography. She asked if we had any books of his work, because she didn't know.

Without even thinking about it, I reached out and pulled the book off the shelf right above her head, where I knew it was supposed to be - one of those, "Do we have that?" "Yeah, right here" moments. She said she hadn't seen it on the inventory list, and I asked if she'd checked the inventory for this part of the library. Turns out, she hadn't, and was both surprised and happy to have it right on hand.

Being there for exactly what I was brought in to do - supremely gratifying. I take what job satisfaction I can get.

Which reminds me, I need to take pictures of the place.

In completely unrelated news, I got a mug-a-month calendar from Lulu yesterday. I didn't order it, and because it was registered as a third party, must have come as a gift. There wasn't any other information given, so I don't know who to thank, so I'll just ask politely and hope for an answer.

I do! I need to get magnets to hang it on the fridge. Tea really is a hug in a cup if you do it right.
