Love the pharmacisit.
Staying up until four through no fault of my own is a new experience. I've stayed up until four at least once, possibly two or three times, because I had work to finish - I remember the first time being in grad school when I needed to finish up a paper that was due the next night, and I knew if I went to bed I wouldn't have the drive to complete it on time. So I stayed to finish it and went to bed very early in the morning.
Last night I just couldn't get to sleep. I spent almost three hours trying, then gave up, took two Advil PM to kick my brain into gear, and woke up around eleven. I'm not feeling very rested, but it's better than the alternative.
As to why this happens, I've no real idea - these bouts don't come frequently enough for there to be a pattern. I'll still see what I can do to tire myself out during the day to get my brain to figure out it's time to shut off when it gets dark.
