When we were done with lunch, we walked over to the main New York Public Library building, just to see what they had, and swooned over the archival contents on display. I mean, swooning. She almost drooled over the typewriters and I said I needed a shower and a good scrub to be clean enough to be in the same room as some of the papers they had out. Gorgeous, lovely books and prints and documents from before Europeans knew about Australia, it was basically my dream job so close I could see the grain of the paper...and still, so far away.
We stopped by the HBO shop for some swag, which neither of us can pronounce, and then sat down for some drinks and snacks at a local chain. Then it was north to Fauna, and many failed attempts to photograph exotic creatures that can't stay still long enough to understand how much people like then.
Around four, we parted ways, and then I came back to my place unexpectedly and completely drained. My guess is eating red meat in the middle of the day takes a lot out of me, since meat usually gets eaten at night. Yet one more reason to miss In-N-Out: grilled cheese, for when you want a lighter lunch that doesn't involve large mushrooms.
