Going stir-crazy.

The way weather works on the East Coast seems to be "whatever it feels like." There are some rules - no sun from December through February, no snow from April through September - that are really more like guidelines. I'm still learning how they work, and it's bothering me on a number of levels. Both having to learn, and what I need to be taught.

It's been raining on and off since Saturday night, with the occasional bit of thunder and lightning and downpours with three inches in six hours. Three inches is about what Davis would get for all of January. Right now, with the general rain and overcast skies, I feel like it's November or December and I should act accordingly - except it's the middle of August and the very end of summer.

I'm starting to entertain the idea that the East Coast doesn't actually do seasons as such. Just weather. But that might just be its insane summer, in which case I ought to pack up and hightail it for a place that knows how to keep itself dry when it's supposed to be hot out.

You're right about NY having just "weather." It's been a bit more erratic over the past couple years, but seasons are just guidelines. We've had freak snow in April (just flurries, not the serious stuff). And I think it was in 2009 that we skipped spring and most of summer because of several weeks of on-and-off RAIN RAIN RAIN. God that was miserable. Like, imagine this past weekend, but for about three months.

I had to dig this up: a very un-spring-like March 29, 2009 -- http://swankyfunk.livejournal.com/1288139.html

Heh, you should try Florida. Here in summer is our rainy season. You can almost set your watch by the daily thunderstorms. It will rain/storm for a couple hours, then clear out again. On the one hand it's kind of cool. On the other hand, it kinda sucks because it's often raining when it's time to drive home from work, and rush hour is never a good time to be caught in the rain.
