Five year plans.

Partly because I wanted to see how it'd turn out and partly because chicken is exponentially easier to buy local than tofu, tonight I tried out this recipe with sliced chicken thighs instead of tofu. I also added a thinly sliced onion, a bit of teriyaki sauce, and left out the peanuts. And was it ever delicious. I've got to make it again in summer with fresh-that-morning peppers and basil.

I've also signed up for a career fair this Friday. I'm reminding myself that it's not for the whole day and I don't have to stay the entire time if I don't want to. I'm also spending some time sighing and feeling a slight tinge of regret that nobody in middle or high school thought to mention that book restoration or being a sommelier were valid career paths. Or prodded me to buckle down for organic chemistry to be a professional herpetologist. Or go for a different master's like anthropology or an MFA in writing.

It's quite possible that's just the unemployment talking. So anyone need a personal librarian-secretary-live-in-cook? I'm willing to relocate.

When I was unemployed, I was definitely going overboard on the varieyt of 'things I could possibly do.'

I got my current job from a career fair - there really is soemthing to be said for seeing someone in person and selling yourself directly... Good success with it! And of course, many many copies of your resume. :)

I could move to Montana and become a shepherd! I could move back to Pennsylvania and start beekeping and sell my own mead! I could continue with my internship and break into art dealing!

Thanks. I don't have a printer right now, so that reminds me I need to find someone who does.

I was TOTALLY doing that!

I didn't have one, either (still don't, I steal boy's when I need to print), so I went to Kinko's.

I've worked with raptors. I've done a short stint in retail. I can wrangle donkeys and assess what repairs a book needs. I don't think there's a job out there that combines everything, but I'm sure some skills would transfer over.

My dad's got access to a nice one with fancy paper. I'd better call him before it gets too late.
