Harbor pulled away.
There's fog lying low outside my window, hanging over some of the taller buildings and sometimes coming down far enough to obscure the very tops. It's making me think of fog rolling in off the ocean.
I just got an e-mail about a networking-slash-reuinion event at my undergrad campus in San Francisco early next month. It's free to alumni, which makes it more appealing - appealing enough that I'm thinking it'd be nice to go. I've really got no idea what I'd get out of the networking event itself, and since it's just for one evening and across the country, whether or not it'd be worth it to book passage and lodging.
And if I was going to book passage and lodging, the first thing I'd do is see if anyone I know in the area has a couch or futon I could use for a couple of nights. If that turned out to be the case, I'd see if I could take it one step further: since the event's on a Tuesday, I might as well see if I could come on the Friday or Saturday before and spend some time with friends and the city. Of course, if I really wanted to do that, I shouldn't need the networking as a reason to visit and might as well go ahead and see if anyone would have me over. The event would be a justification, especially if it was for a short trip - it might be useful, might be not, but since I'm so far away a two-day-one-night trip wouldn't be worth the time and effort.
But even where I am with how little I'm doing, I don't have the money and I don't think I can rationalize the time, so I'll leave it alone for now.
