I'm not sure how many people are aware of this, but I'm currently living in New York City right now. I'm slowly working on getting a job, and in the meantime I'm trying to keep myself busy with other projects - writing fic, adjusting to an electric stove, that sort of thing. If at all possible, I'd like to make use of the networks I've got going right now not for professional but for personal reasons.

Which is to say, if there's anyone in New York City or the surrounding areas who'd like to meet up for lunch, coffee, afternoon tea, dinner, or a simple get-together, I'd be more than joyful about it.

Also, if anyone knows anyone who's in New York City you think I'd like to meet, that'd be wonderful too. I knew someone who knew letters_in_sand and got us together when I moved to Pittsburgh, and while I doubt I'll get as lucky as that again - she sets the bar pretty high for neat real-world people - it's always worth a shot.

Next week I might be up for a trip into the city - this week it's just too hot. My car's got no AC so a trip like that would probably murder me.

okay, this is completely random, but i just got a linkedin request from you and was mystified. i knew i recognized your name from somewhere, but i could not for the life of me remember where. i searched facebook and a link to your journal came up, but it didn't look like we knew each other from lj...and then i searched my email and it turns out i had won your sweet charity auction. i don't use linkedin, so i guess it pulls all your gmail contacts? in any case, i saw this post, and, being that i am in new york and a big fan of meeting new people (however unexpectedly), i couldn't resist commenting. so, hello! i'm susan. :)
