It's true that at the time of this posting, everything Johnny Depp's ever made needs to be approached while wearing the same degree of protective equipment used for ordnance disposal work, or at least standard HAZMAT gear, and it's also true that his introductory scene in Pirates of the Caribbean is a superb moment that still gives me a ghost of the thrill I felt when I saw it back in 2003.

I wouldn't say it's my absolute favorite piece of canon I've ever encountered. But it's pretty high up there. Still a perfect moment.

That is a great scene.

It would be nice if the people who create our favorite characters turned out to be surprisingly good rather than the other way around.

Every once in a while, I think about my favorite Grand Entrances in media and this has never left my top five. The salute to the gibbet, the casual step onto the dock. It's just perfect.
