I made the calculated impulse to go see Collateral tonight on a movie screen, and boy was it the right call. I got out of my head something fierce and had an absolute blast. But it was more than that tonight. I could've walked, could've taken the bus, and decided to take a bike, with the route taking me down well-lit streets, past snatches of music weaving through the dining sheds, along the backs of high rise buildings sending light up to the clouds blotting out the sky.

It got me in the mood something fierce.

I took a bike back, also. An ebike this time, something to have me fly along. I got out late enough that for a few blocks going up Broadway, it was just me and a garbage truck, a not-quite-empty set of streets. Coming out of a movie like that into a night in New York was as sublime a feeling as I've had in a good while, and being as in the night as I was - the echoing sensations - had me tasting, once again, how it used to feel to leave a movie and bike home. It doesn't happen much, and I thrill for it each time it comes along.
