The shortest day.
When my landline rings, I usually pick it up in case it's one of my parents calling. No such luck: it was from a call center, with the slight pause before the background noises and distant voices kicked in.
"Can you hear me now?"
"No," I answer.
In the face of such logic, they hang up on me, saving me the trouble.
Also of note today was going to a bakery and in addition to the pastry I'd bought, getting a gingerbread cookie on the house and eating it on my parents' rooftop, enjoying the hard sunshine of the Solstice.
