One race at a time.

Things that work to get me onto the treadmill: an understanding cardio exercise will help reduce the future cholesterol issues towards which my family history predisposes me, delightful podcasts of people who like each other's company delightedly talking about things they love, and the fact that it helps me fall asleep at night.

Things that work to keep me going on the treadmill: a sense of accomplishment at my ongoing progress as measured by the amount of elevation gained or distance covered in a given amount of time, and Tom Cruise movies.

I managed a mile in 15 minutes some months ago. Today it was a mile in 12. Then I kept going to get 2.25 miles in 30 minutes, which is currently the most I've done. It was on a flat incline, so I'm going to see about a very mild incline that won't have me trying to hit a given amount of feet in a set amount of time but just to add a little and see what that does. And I'll see about working to get to a mile in ten.

Chris Evans movies, too, come to think of it.

Motivation is good, *effective* motivation is fantastic. Congrats on sticking with it and getting those tangible benefits!
