Seasonal turnings.
It was this last Tuesday that had the first snow of the year: just some light flakes, just a few minutes, not enough to stick around or mean anything. They were tiny, faint, more like slow-moving raindrops that vanished as soon as they landed. I saw something moving when I went outside, then two blocks later, they started coming down in a moment of vindication - I hadn't been hallucinating. They lasted the walk over to the library, but by the time I was done checking out my holds, it was over. All done. And nothing to show for it.
The walk also had me going past a small fire. I don't know how it happened, or why, just that there was a box of something at the edge of a sidewalk that someone was putting out with a hose where a few others were watching him do that. I was one of them for a while, and took advantage of the situation to enjoy the smell of the smoke on an autumn day. The leaves were out, the sky was coming down, and there was smoke in the air. It made me happy I'd talked myself into going to the library, even more than the DVDs themselves.
