Local reporting.

In today's biking adventures, I collided with a dragonfly while biking at high speeds. I didn't get a good look at what exactly hit me in the face, but judging from the wildlife I'd seen earlier and the size of what hit me, I don't think it was a sparrow or a hummingbird.

I spent a little time out walking after the ride, and it was a strange, lovely feeling to look out westward, see the clouds, and figure out about how many hours I had before the rain arrived. It was a thunderstorm - not very loud, but it lasted a while - and I've been here long enough that while it's still wonderful, it's not new anymore. And I can tell when one's coming well enough to not be surprised anymore. It's a skill I didn't realize I'd developed until today.

Believe it or not, some dragonflies are larger than hummingbirds. I've seen dragonflies the size of my spread hand, in length and wingspan.

If you pay attention, the world will tell you what it's doing. :D
