Good morning, good morning.

Last night, I got hit by anxiety hard enough I needed two Ativan. One didn't do the trick, so I took another, and they worked well enough I slept until ten-thirty but not so well I haven't quite calmed down to where I was yesterday afternoon.

The inciting moment was being told the new phone I could get on my current plan is the iPhone 12, either regular or mini. I looked it up, saw it didn't have a home button, and that single aspect was enough to send me spiraling. So I slept through the morning and missed an appointment, and about all I managed was going to the nearest Apple store and putting in an order for a new version of the phone I already have. I made it to the gym for a little bit of time on the treadmill, and that's been all. No writing. No tidying. No putting much of anything away. The Ativan hangover's lingering on in the form of nausea and weariness - I feel like I could go to bed right now and be fine.

I'm going to finish ripping some DVDs, do the dishes, and call it a wash.

Sorry that happened, but if it helps to know this for future:

While the iPhone, starting with the iPhone 10, doesn't have a hardwired home button, you can enable it: https://tinyurl.com/vbxaydzb

I actually understand how that's distressing. I tried an iphone for almost a week because the rest of our household is Apple products, and I thought it would be cool to have everything in sync. I've just been using Samsung phones since the stone age, and I love them. But the lack of a home button made me (ir)rationally angry, and also the autocomplete was (complete) garbage. They're miles behind Samsung in terms of user friendliness, and I just don't understand why their phones are so popular.

Anyways, I had a number of freak-outs during that week of trying to use the iphone, and we sent it back. I can't say I have less anxiety overall, but at least my phone isn't the cause of it!
