Dreamed awake.

If I had to live in a building without an elevator that had its own laundry room, or a building without laundry and luxurious elevators, I'd definitely choose the former. I knew that already, and having done the laundry today without the elevators is a way for me to prove it to myself. And, hopefully, to other people who don't quite understand how non-negotiable a feature that is.

Combining the stairs with having gone for a hike out in the woods with my dad means I'm fairly well wiped out. It was lovely out there, and I'm happy I went. The leaves are all down and there's been some rain, so there were a lot of small pools and little streams running through the hills, and the empty branches against the gray sky were wonderful to look at and lovely to listen to when the wind came through. We heard a woodpecker, and managed to spot three deer - a mammal we know well, but not one we'd seen out in the woods before, and if they hadn't had their tails up, we probably wouldn't have seen them at all. Being able to watch them in their natural habitat was a great way for us to see something we knew well in a new way.

My knee's not that happy with me, and hopefully a hot shower and early bedtime will soothe it enough it won't make sleeping difficult.

I lived for 5 years in a building with no elevator but with a laundry room (which was in the building but only accessible via the outside stairs, so doing laundry in the winter was....super fun). At that time I would absolutely have agreed with you. Now, with a chronic hip injury, probably not so much!
