Nomming.

I didn't strictly need to cook dinner tonight because I had noodles in the fridge, and because the produce had another couple of days before it'd turn beyond me being able to use it. Even the mushrooms. But I did need to cook to pull the day up from being so empty. I'm having to get back into looking for jobs, browsing listings, and I need to tighten up my CV one more time and start composing cover letters. Which I hate. The prospect of that's fairly numbing.

So, cooking. Enough vegetable-laden home fries for two meals, in fact, because I wanted to use up everything I had that might go bad, and some shelf-stable onions and garlic, too. Potatoes cooked crisp and set aside; layering in broccoli, onions, bell pepper, garlic, mushrooms, herbs, kosher salt, black pepper, and a can of tomatoes; waiting until a little before dinner to add the potatoes back, and just before dinner to fold in the scallions. It helped tremendously. It's not something I can do viably every night, but sometimes, it's just what I need.

That feeling of accomplishment that comes from having made food is so good.

It sounds delicious.

Did you manage to get out for a walk? That can help a bit when the day is full of a whole lot of emptiness - take it from an expert.
