Last call out for California - I'm going to be heading out to LA for about a week in just over a month, and I'm in the final plan-making phase. If anyone in the region, or the state, wants to get together, please let me know. Now would be the time.

Also of note, today I got a call on my landline and picked it up in case it was my dad. It turned out to be a woman, trying to be courteous, who asked me, "Do you worry if God hears you when you pray?"

"No."

She went silent a moment, clearly uncertain what to do next.

She stumbled onto saying that was good and launched into a quote from Psalms, and four words in, I asked her if she had other translations. "I know it wasn't written in English - there was this one thing I read, something about a rich man, where the different translations of tonight your soul's required of you created this really great poetic thing, do you have other translations available?"

She didn't.

So I wished her a good afternoon and hung up.

Seriously, though. Either you don't believe in God, in which case there's no reason to worry about anyone hearing you, or you do, in which case, there's no reason to worry about God not hearing you.

I am so sorry to have avoided your question -- It's covid. I'm caring for both sets of elderly parents, and I'm avoiding all external exposures. I hope you understand that I need to skip this visit. It breaks my heart that we're in this situation, but I can't be the vector that brings my 80-something family their unfortunate viral event. And I'm with them a couple times a week, every week, or their lives come apart.
