If it keeps on raining.
Challenge #4
In your own space, make a list of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, and/or that you'd like someone to create or do for you. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
1. As ever, as usual, I wish for transformative works based on my fics. Fanart, banners, covers, podfics, moodboards, it's always a joy and it never gets old.
2. Same goes for comments.
3. I wish for someone to hold my hand while we install a Dreamwidth moodtheme on my journal together. I had one back on Livejournal and I miss it, and I've never been able to suss out how to make it work here.
4. I wish for someone to have face-to-face chats with over Zoom for the fun of talking to someone in as close to real time as we can get these days.
5. I wish for a post-canon BtVS fic based on the "gird your loins" scene from The Devil Wears Prada wherein it's Buffy in the Miranda role, going to some event or meeting, and everyone is scrambling to get everything ready for her and up to her standards. Not that Buffy is being deliberately cruel, more that she commands that level of respect. Most likely as a defense mechanism, to keep people from asking too much of her - not quite "no brown M&Ms" as a secret test to make sure all the technical requirements were fulfilled, but something close.
6. I wish for people to be willing to have difficult conversations. A difficult conversation isn't the same as conflict - often, having such conversations avoids future conflicts. I put this down because, without giving details or naming names, in a forum I participate in, a fairly sizeable problem a year in the making could've been fixed had the mods been willing to have a difficult thirty-minute conversation as soon as the problem presented itself, rather than wait and hope that the source of the problem would go away. Instead, a year later, things went south hard, heavy, and fast for way more people than would've been involved in that original thirty-minute conversation.
Not every problem needs to be dealt with. Sometimes, you say "this person clearly doesn't know what they're talking about" and close the tab. Sometimes, you say, "this isn't worth the attention I'm giving it" and let the concerns fall away with the help of whatever ways and means it takes. Sometimes, you say, "I'm not the person to solve this problem, so I'm going to someone whose job it is to do that." And sometimes - you have to say, "this needs to be addressed immediately with all the professionalism, patience, fairness, and courtesy that is humanly possible, and still, immediately."

Good luck on the rest of your wishes!

I know I'd rather deal with a mod who understand they're not going to be everyone's friend and holds the good of the entire community space above their own personal friendships.
Thoughts
Often they lack the skills. It helps to model these, share resources, and also write scenes in which characters successfully perform the task.
"Hide and Seek" has good examples in fanfic.
"A Moment of Atonement" has examples in original work.

Would something around 3 PM work for you? And is Zoom your preferred video call? I can also do most of the others (but don't really know how to set up a call on any of them!)
You can email me if you want to send a link or whatever to set up a call!
