Greet the brand new day.

Today was the earliest sunset of the year. Only by a handful of seconds, and it still counts. Largely because it's now gotten into below-freezing temperatures here - there was ice out in the park this morning when I took my day's ride, decently sized puddles frozen through and cracked in the early sun.

I'd layered because I'd known it'd be cold. Long-sleeved undershirt, t-shirt, sweatshirt. It was enough to keep my torso warm, though I may need stronger gloves soon.

I went out early because I had an errand in the afternoon to pick up a set of kettlebells I bought from someone on NextDoor. They're neatly arranged at the foot of my bed, and I'm enjoying picking them up and putting them down.

Also, I spotted a kestrel, which made getting up before seven well worth it.

Wait, what? I think of the solstice as being the 21st or so; how was today the earliest?

props to you for riding even in the cold, btw. wow.
