On Wednesday, I participated in an unpaid volunteer gig to pick up old food from a bakery and deliver it to a local rescue group. Someone was upset about the three of us going into the bakery, and wasn't listening to us explain ourselves, so I said, "If you're not going to listen to us, don't talk to us."
When we dropped off the food at the group, I looked at the bags, and said, "This wheat was not reaped in vain."
After which, to keep with the spirit of the day, I bought a bagel and made two cakes I gave out to my family during our second picnic of the quarantine. I got vegetarian sushi from a local Japanese place, which was a mix of good flavors and poor presentation. I'll take it as a learning experience and know for next time.

Today I learned just slightly underripe apricots have as close a texture to loquats as I've yet found on the East Coast. I may not wait for the rest of them to get to peak ripeness, though I admit - it'll be fun to eat them one a day for the next four days, and slowly pay attention to what happens.
