Images hosted on Dreamwidth can glitch when embedded elsewhere (because, as I found out this week, DW images are only meant to be embeddable on DW, LJ, and other LJ-based sites) - I know mine have been randomly disappearing and reappearing. I hear that Imgur, for instance, works fine with AO3, or alternatively Google Photos with a special workaround tool for getting the embed code.

I don't know if the site issue is what's up with your images - I just looked at the first of them and noticed it's hosted on DW.
