Ten good ways to spend your time.
Challenge #8
Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I went with a list of nine fics and one vid.
MCU: Falling Back on Forever: Bucky falls from the train in 1945. Steve jumps right after him. I read this in a low, fallow period last summer, when I was wondering what I was doing in fandom, what I wanted to get out of it - and then someone sent this my way and reminded me exactly why I was here.
Schitt's Creek: Taking Inventory, where Patrick and David go to Rosh Hashanah services, David's Jewishness is the exact kind of Jewishness I recognize from life, and the devotion the two men have to each other is gorgeous.
I Wish I was the Moon, because this showed me Stevie lives inside of a Neko Case song.
New Attitude, because it's a prime example of one of my favorite fic genres: "If Raymond Carver wrote unambiguously happy stories."
The Mandalorian: The Naming of Things, which I just read tonight, a charming little genfic about Baby Yoda getting a proper name.
Pressure Valve, where Cara and Mando are bros who fuck sometimes, and Mando thinks kissing is gross.
Buffy/Angel: The Burying Kind, a Six Feet Under crossover that uses the two canons to bring hidden elements of the other to light and deepen what's present in the originals. With a bonus coda here.
Desert Wonderland, because I haven't been able to find much fic which tries to capture California as a place, so when I find something that does it, I holler in absolute joy.
In Imbolic, a vivid, aching snapshot of what remained of the Whirlwind after Angel left them, where the cold pours right out of the screen.
Nothing New Under the Sun, where there's always something new in the world, and always reason for wonder.
