Held your hand again.
Challenge #6
In your own space, make a list — anything between one and ten things is a sweet spot, but don't feel constrained by that! - of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, or that you'd like someone to make for you. Are you dying for podfic of your writing? Do you need icons for a character that doesn't get much fanart? Is there a story you want to read? Are you looking for new canons to get into? Would you like a collaborator for a project?
Maybe you want more people to talk about a certain fandom with, or you'd love to trade ficlets with somebody over email. Maybe you're new to a fandom and would like some recs to start reading, or communities to join. This is the time to ask!
Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I'm sure I'll think of many more things in the shower tonight or folding laundry tomorrow, but for now, I'll stop wondering what else to write and go with these.
1. Fanart or fanmixes or covers or banners or remixes for anything I've done would send me over the moon.
2. Similarly, comments, reviews, recs would all be delightful - with the last one mostly to say, if you've seen my work recommended somewhere, I'd love to know.
3. I'd like to see more local meetup groups, like BrunchCon and Boston Fannish Brunch - both of which real life seems to have unfortunately eaten, which is a shame since they were a blast while they lasted. Fandom brunches are a lovely concept, and I'd like to see them happen in more cities. I know fans are out there and I know putting new faces to old friends is one of fandom's most intense joys. I'd like it easier for us to find each other.
Be open to saying hello. Be open to introducing yourself, or reaching out on someone's behalf because you know they live near someone else you're in touch with and their interests and tastes overlap. Maybe it'll just be a few people around a kitchen table, as it was way back in the day. Maybe it'll be a massive crowd at a local restaurant, taking over the entire dining room.
Whatever the scope and scale of the gathering - I'd like to know more of them are happening out there.
4. A Ghostbusters/Men in Black crossover, any flavor of either property, because I'm honestly a little surprised nobody's done it yet. Think about it: blue collar, white collar. Private enterprise, government department. Fantasy, science fiction. DIY, R&D. Openly operating out in public and seeking out recognition for their work, hiding in the shadows and disappearing as soon as the job's done. And for both: an absolute love of their genre, of fun, and of the wild and weird and wonderful place that is the New York City every movie promises it to be that sometimes manages to live up to it in real life.
I don't think they'd be friends, as such, but for the duration of a jurisdictional crossover - like the musical Lazarus where an alien stranded on Earth befriended a girl who was a ghost - they'd make a wonderful fighting team.
Bonus points if you bring in Agent L.
5. Asking for the future: I'd like someone to help with practical advice and hand-holding on revising a manuscript, seeking out an agent, and writing a pitch.
