Employment updates.

I had back-to-back job interviews today - which was easier than it sounds, because one was a video conference and the other was a phone call. Even so, two job interviews in three hours is a minor achievement.

Both times, they liked my answers to their questions and the things I asked them. They also both said they were interviewing a large number of people for these positions and they'd let me know by the end of the week if I'd be accepted for the second round of interviews or not. I told them I appreciated their honesty and was glad I'd be finding out so soon, however it went.

It's got me thinking, though. Every so often, I'm asked about salary expectations. A job I had a while ago, telecommuting for a small academic organization, paid a flat amount every month. No matter how much I did, whether or not I had to travel out of state to meet people, the paychecks were always the same. Some months I earned under minimum wage per hour. Other months, there was so little to do: $500 an hour.

I want to use that as an answer sometime, just to see the look on the interviewer's face.
