Anything easy has its cost.
Yesterday, I had the chance to hang out with a few other fans for an afternoon. We walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, we enjoyed the rain, we ate pizza, we went our separate ways. During the time, we talked fandom here and there, mostly while sitting down inside. It was fun, and I hope to do it again sometime.
What this mostly has rolling around in my head is how much I'd love to go to Fanworks Con. I love talking fandom, I love fans, I always miss it when it's not around. But two big things stand in my way: it's the week before Connexions, and the only way to get there is by plane.
It looks so much exactly my thing. I have the money and I have the time. I haven't yet registratered.
And their mascot is even a magpie. Corvids: one of my major weaknesses.
There's still some time. It's just a matter of being able to talk myself into doing something I know would be fantastic, avoiding the minor struggles of trying to parse out reasons and excuses.

Basically: if it works for you to come, definitely join us! And then hang out with me. For I am some definition of cool, and super excited about the con.
