I don't understand all the celebratory posts of women cutting their hair. Yes, their little internet corner, sure, that I get. But the driving ethos of them is so far outside of my own context and worldview it might as well be dispatches from Saturn.

In other news, last night I finished the POV shift rewrite of the ongoing WIP, and last Thursday I finished up physical therapy. September 25 to January 24 - not a bad amount of time to be able to walk up and down stairs and run again. I'll still be doing the at-home routines a few times a week, because I've gotten so used to them it feels odd when I skip it.

Congrats on getting through PT! (and yeah-- I'm certainly always ready to congratulate someone on a cute haircut, but I don't get it as a Thing?? Maybe because I'm so attached to my own, I don't know)

I haven't really heard about the hair cutting thing. Is it something giving the finger to standards of femininity?

I'm not sure. It's just something I see a lot of - not even a general status update, but something asking for celebration. There's cognitive dissonance I doubt I'll ever resolve.

When I was 30, I shaved my head. Men stopped explaining things to me. I could suddenly dance on a crowded dancefloor without being groped. It was liberating in so many more ways than I had been expecting.

Yeah, I can get that. But there's other things about shearing hair that I can't.
