Ponder the manner of things.
I've so far made two cakes and a batch of muffins in hope for this Saturday's brunch in Central Park. There's still a sizable chance it'll be cancelled on account of rain, so I'm holding off on buying coffee and making the party-sized spanakopita until at least Thursday. Hedge my bets as best I can.
It makes planning the week a bit trickier - figuring out the grocery lists and when to go to the store - but I'd rather live with a bit of uncertainty for a while than be left with ingredients that can't be put to their proper use.
