Leave the party early.

I've recently been informed, on no uncertain terms, my current job will soon come to an end. There's still no set timeline. I don't have access to any behind-the-scenes information or relevant details. All I've gotten directly, and pieced together through observation, tells me that it'll be over and done with by August, if not sooner.

I don't want to be around when that happens.

I've thought about it, and I want the chance to walk away for once. I've never had that opportunity before. Sure, I could've quit at any time, but I never did so. I kept working until the end of the contract period or until the job was over. So this time around, I want to leave before I have to go.

So June 1, I'll be turning in my two weeks' notice. I've considered asking for a raise as a condition to keep me on until I'm gone. Then again, I don't think anything less than a fifty percent raise would be enough to tempt me.

Time to look for an etiquette guide and a set of boilerplate templates.

Best of luck in dealing with this situation. Leaving on your terms is a great feeling, and I hope everything works out.
