Weird and wonderful.

Walking through the falling snow today, just as I went under an awning there was a huge flash. I didn't know what it was - maybe it came from inside the shop, maybe it was a car, who knows. But then, not even half a block later, a crack of thunder, strong and unmistakable.

I didn't know thunder and lightning could happen with snow. It's been a secret from me for all the years I've lived in places with both those kinds of weather. Earlier today I was talking about the sort of soft, almost dry rain that happens in California, where it's more a heavy mist that stays around all day, and I do miss that. But I'd miss this sort of storm if I went back, too. I'm glad I got a chance to see it.

Thundersnow! I heard about it for the first time a year or so ago, but I've never heard it. That's really cool!

I grew up in the South with afternoon thunderstorms practically every day in the summer time, which I really missed when I lived in California. Rain was just so different there.

Yup, Thundersnow! I've told lots of people about it, but they think I am kidding until they experience it.

Thundersnow is totally a thing. It's awesome. Generally, thunder and lightning freaks me out (grew up in Tornado Alley), but this? Always lovely.

Oh my goodness! Thundersnow! I have heard of it, but never experienced it myself - that's super cool.

I’ve been in an electrical snowstorm one time. It was in Chicago in December of 2000. Truly incredible. I’m glad you got to have that experience.
