Put the wheels in motion.
I've been without my own workstation for several weeks now. It's been issues of hardware, software, licensing agreements, and now, seniority. Because my boss' computer broke down, too. So he took the one the office administrator pulled out of storage to give to me. I understand him needing a computer of his own, and I don't fault that at all. That said, the office manger's since ordered a replacement. That he doesn't want, since he likes the one pulled out from storage.
So even though I'm really the last person who should be getting anything new or fancy, I'm getting the new, fancy computer she's ordered as soon as it arrives.
For all that I'd like my own workstation and not having to leave for half-hour intervals when patients come in to talk to the nurse, I kind of like the new workstation. I have a window view of the Empire State Building, and she almost never makes long, loud phone calls involving option trees.
Also in computer news, I had an assignment which required me to either make a table and set of queries in Access, or document the steps. I don't have Access on this computer, but that wasn't a problem because I hate throwing things away. I just pulled out my old computer - slow, weary, but perfectly serviceable - which does have Access on it, gave it ten minutes to warm up, and finished everything without having to buy or license a new copy of the program.
There's some sort of lesson here, I'm sure of it.
In non-computer news, my birthday's in just over a month, and not only will I likely get this fic finished and out to beta by then, but also for once, I know how I'm celebrating. If only I knew what to wear...
