I saw Hamilton last Thursday. Seat 113, two rows down from the very top of the theater. A great spot to see the entire stage, and I'm really glad I stuck to my word and didn't listen to it until I was in the theater, watching it happen. Because it works so well as a musical narrative piece, and it soars as a piece of stagecraft. I didn't cry, though some people around me did.

There were a last few moments of the look people gave me whenever I'd say I hadn't listened to it yet, and one guy giving me an incredible moment of silence when I told him. It'll be a little disappointing to lose that, but only a little, since I can listen to the album now. Maybe once a week. So as not to wear it out.

Interesting approach! I wouldn't have become interested had I not heard the recording, and I also think because of my old-lady ears I wouldn't have understood it as well. But yours is a totally valid method.

Tremendous is the best adjective. The choreography! The lighting! I was telling people during the intermission it was the dancers who impressed me the most. Oh, man, I can't wait to hear what college troupes do with the staging in ten to fifteen years - what they're going to be able to do with so much less to work with, and how to pull it off.

OH YES THE STAGE. I saw the first outer rotating circle before anything started, and then when the inner part moved too I flipped my shit.

I am so pleased you managed to keep unspoiled for Hamilton! I'm hoping to win lotto tickets, but I've got actualfax seats for October so will still be able to see it. I can't wait - it really feels like something special.
