Keeping on with it.
In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.
1. Because I just started watching The West Wing - Josh Lyman/Joey Lucas fic. I've talked about this pairing to a few people already - how they never had a chance to get together and give it a shot in the course of the show, but it's something that could have been successful if they'd had an opportunity to put in the time and effort to sustain an adult relationship. I've also talked about how I want to know I can trust fandom to write disabled characters, and it seems to be slowly inching there. I'd be over the moon if I read a story about the hard work necessary to sustain a successful long-term relationship, much less a relationship between two passionate, hard-working and disabled individuals - and yes, with his PTSD, I'd count Josh as disabled.
Beyond Deaf culture in the United States and the idealized version of sausage making as seen on the show and Joey getting long-term relationships and friendships with everyone else in the main cast - something that explores the distinction between disability and handicap without diminishing either's importance. Something about a couple with different cultural backgrounds trying to find common ground between them. Something about two people who love each other and want to be with each other no matter what the world has to say about them.
And if this could be done without vilifying or woobifying Donna, that'd be good too.
Or just fic about disabled characters that isn't disability fic. I did some in Deep Space Nine, and I'm ready to see more. A good example is Everything About It Is A Love Song.
2. Icons - recommendations for general blogs like this and this, and fandom icons for Deep Space Nine and Scrubs. I love fandom icons, and I adore using fandom icons that are clear enough, and have enough going on, that they can be used in non-fannish contexts, such as the one I've got here. I like good shots of characters' faces, I like Julian Bashir in the uniform of the later seasons, and I love Cox with plenty of curls.
And I'd be happy with paying for the icon-maker's time and effort.
(Yes, The West Wing icon recs would be nice, too.)
3. Superpower AUs - I believe superpowers make everything better, and I know superpowers are best when they're a pain in the ass. I recently discovered this little series, and any recommendations for stuff in that vein - the more grounded/everyday the fandom, the better - would be welcome. Not even necessarily crossovers, or "modern AU - still have powers" fics. Stuff where superpowers are part of life, and that part is being a pain in the ass.
Circling around to the first item on the list, using them as a disability metaphor wouldn't be unwelcome, either.
