Little victories.
Combining this folding shelf with my computer table results in my suddenly owning a standing desk for nothing but the trouble of rearranging everything whenever I want to sit back down. That, and I need another shelf, because I was using it to hold up my fan.
In the meantime, I still have a standing desk when I want one. After experimenting with it yesterday and today, I've found it's easier to focus on work tasks and e-mails while standing - especially during the long summer afternoons - and write fic while sitting. Which isn't a terribly surprising thing to learn. Being able to stand is very nice, though. If there are any bodily health benefits to the arrangement, they’re far outweighed by the feeling of not sitting all day, and the knowledge that if I do want to sit, the shelf’s easy enough to move and the chair’s within reach.
