Idle temptations.

My neighbor across the hall has entrusted me with her two goldfish for the next week. These aren't particularly high-maintenance pets, and require little in terms of direct involvement - helped by the fact that this is only for a week. There's a big one, and a little one, and maybe when the little one is too big to be eaten by the bigger one they'll be homed together. At the moment, they're in separate tanks, swimming gently on my kitchen table.

And I very much want to go to this exotic pet store and see about buying them some very nice tanks, because that's what I'd do if I got long-term ownership of goldfish.

One of the things I'm looking forward to most about getting my own place, is getting some nice tanks and some pretty fish to put in them...fishies! :D

They're not even your fish and you're feeling it.

When I moved into my apartment, my sister bought me a beta fish in a little bowl. And of course, then you get to doing the research and your realize they need more space for that, so you buy him a bigger bowl and some nice plants. And then you buy him an even bigger one with more plants. Then a one gallon tank with a little filter.

Now I have a 5 gallon tank with a filtration system, more plants, a divider, and a friend for him to flare at every now and then.
