Bound to happen eventually.

Until this morning, I'd never cracked an egg open to find a chicken inside. I've found bits of blood and double yolks, but never a chick - a sad, little grey thing, all sour and rotten. Thank goodness it was my first egg, or else I'd needed to throw out the whole batch.

Farmers' market eggs: always full of surprises.

In retrospect, maybe I should've saved it to cook in some olive oil. Kind of like balut...nah. There'd be way too many tiny bones.

Wow. I'm guessing ... someone skipped an egg while candling. Yikes.

Gaaaah. I'm always vaguely worried about this happening every time I crack open an egg.

Wait, have you actually tried balut before?

I'd be a bit freaked out I think, and suddenly not that hungry anymore.
