Name your price.

Clothing is something I tend to not pay attention to. When I need new pants or shoes, most of the time I order exact copies of the make and model online. I follow Threadless and Shirt.Woot, but that's as far as it goes. I know how to coordinate an outfit to carry at least a veneer of professionalism, and I know the answer to the question "is this too slutty?" is "if you have to ask, you've answered it already." (Shared residence life. You can't make this stuff up.)

This is a bit of a problem now, though. The weather's turning warm and staying that way, and since most of my formal tops have long sleeves to keep me warm in the cold, I'm in need of new options that reflect the seasonal changes. And because I don't really pay attention to clothes, I don't know where to go to buy two or three somewhat formal warm-weather tops.

I can easily be feminine, but it's very hard for me to be girly. ("Fangirl" is its own independent designation.) So does anyone have any advice on where I should go to fix this practical problem? Please, don't be afraid to name names.

Try Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, Talbots, or Chadwicks. For online shopping, any of those are good. I suck at women's clothing because I dress like a rockstar reject, but my mom and sister-in-law shop at these places. :)

Yes, I second J.Jill and Coldwater Creek, and you may be able to find some lovely and functional tops at Athleta or Title Nine, too.

Thirding J.Jill, seconding Title Nine, and I'll throw Sahalie into the mix as well. *g*

What size are you?

this link is not apropos of this post but I thought you'd find it interesting and fun given your love of lizards and the like.

I'll see if there are any of those in the city so I can make sure the stuff hangs well. Thank you!

I don't think Title Nine will do much, since I can't try anything on without visiting another time zone, but the rest I can probably visit in person.

Oh, that does look good. Thanks for the heads-up.

I don't know. Sizes vary so much from store to store and the designations are so arbitrary I don't pay it too much attention.

Cuties! Thank you.

I just don't know if you are in straight sizes or plus sizes or what. I guess just go with whatever everybody else said.
