Whoa nellie.

Please make no never-mind of my squee tonight; I've just gotten a really awesome Remix assignment that looks like a fantastic challenge. I've skimmed through the fics and turns out this year there's an embarassment of riches for the stories I can pick. Although I'll likely settle for one of two by Thursday. I'll see which one gives me more to work with.

One would be a Remix in the classic sense of the term, going back along the plot of the story and shifting the point of view to say something else about the basic idea. The other would be the sort of overdubs I've done in the past, continuing on the idea in a different pathway - although it could also be a classic Remix if I focused on another area, or told it in a slightly altered mode that just started with the action earlier.

Say, is it possible to write more than one story for Remix? Just curious.

Huzzah for a great Remix assignment! \0/ An embarrassment of riches is definitely a bonus.

I don't think the mods (or the recipient *g*) would object if you wanted to write 2 remixes. You could always contact the mods. Zulu wrote 2 for Bironic one year. She remixed one of Bironic's sestinas and one of her regular fics. Another author wrote one remix based on 2 of her recipient's fics.

One would let me focus on something I've wanted to see in fic, and I'm a huge advocate of the 'write it yourself' school of literature.

The other would let me focus on something I've had a long-standing interest in, and possibly let me muck around with canon in a delightfully subversive way, provided I do sufficient research and find the correct approach, as it'd be pretty out there.

Neither of those situations really apply to me, moreso since I don't know either of those people. So I've since contacted the mods.

Mucking around with canon and subversing it is always good. :-)

I'd have to walk reeeaaalllly carefully, since it's on a subject I know a lot of people have very invested opinions on, and would require a lot of attention to detail and sensitivity to both the canon in question and what I would be bringing in that would create the subversion to begin with.

And if I could do it right, well...I know I'd be interested in the final result.

Would you have time for an IM chat on your client of choice later this week?

Oooh, I am intrigued. I can see why you want to tread carefully.

I have the time--let me know when it'll be convenient for you. Just remember I'm 2 hours behind you. *g* I'm on Yahoo.

Monday and Thursday nights would both work for me. Eight o'clock your time?

And what's your Yahoo handle again?
