Booyah.
The gym in the Y doesn't have a lot of floor space for much of anything, so if I want to do deadlifts, I have to set up the bar in between a couple of Cybex machines, which means unless it's almost all the way over to the wall, it's in the way of one or the other. Today when I went in there wasn't anyone using either of them, so I started racking up the weights with some elbow room.
I'd gotten two forty-five pound plates on the bar, bringing it up to 135, when a guy came in and started to fiddle with one of the machines. So I asked him if he wanted me to move the bar. He didn't seem to understand, so I asked him again. Then he made a move to pick it up for me.
I swooped in and picked it up right away, moving it almost to the wall. He thought I'd asked him to move it for me, and I told him no, I didn't need his help, and this wasn't even the full weight. Then I added the necessary plates to bring it up to the 190 I wanted.
The best part was when he said that was more than he lifted.
Oh yeah, if anyone needs a hand moving a couch, let me know and I'll see if I'm free.
