I love using this icon.

I had a job interview yesterday that seemed like it went really well - the main interviewer said she hadn't laughed so much at the other interviews - and I had two cocktails tonight for a total of three kinds of brandy. But that's not important right now!

What is important is that this afternoon I saw Jackass 3D and my chest still hurts from laughing so hard. It wasn't a great movie the way Winter's Bone was a superb piece of cinema and art made with a deep understanding of the medium and its capabilities. No, this one was a bunch of guys shooting each other with paintballs and playing pranks and getting hit in the crotch. And as a piece of raw entertainment, it was fantastic. I'm really glad I saw it in a crowded theater - stuff like that is best with a crowd when everyone knows to laugh or cry out at the same time. I was dressed up for a nice dinner with my grandmother, so I was in a nice top and one of my better skirts, and that made it better because I totally didn't look the part of an eager fangirl for this stuff.

And I might need to see it again tomorrow.

I was rather doubtful about Jackass until I saw Knoxville on The Daily Show. He described the movie exactly as you did: a bunch of guys shooting each other with paintballs and playing pranks and getting hit in the crotch.

He's not trying to make it anything more than it is, and that makes me like it and him so much more. : ) Glad you enjoyed!

I'm not going to lie: there was a lot of gay in this movie. It's got enough penis to qualify as a gay porn movie, plus the rainbows, dildos, general states of undress...not to mention all the pink. Pretty amazing.

YAY! for the good job interview! I noticed while reading various online newspapers that Jackass was getting favorable nods for being just what it is, and all the interviewers mentioned what a nice guy Johnny Knoxville is.

The Jackass troupe puts a lot of thought into making up good bad ideas. The jet engine sketch was particularly clever.

Hooray for the job interview!

Was Winter's Bone good? I read the book earlier this year. I picked it up on spec at a remainder bookshop and I'm very glad that I did.

It was fantastic! Gorgeous cinematography, wonderful acting, the whole thing was a beautiful piece to look at and observe - it's worth seeing in the theater because there's no option to look away, and that makes it all the more intense.
