Crowdsourcing.

I'm in one of those moods where I want to post all the fic I'm not embarrassed about to a central location for easy reference. Pondering the Remix Duello has something to do with this - just put up an "eligible for remix" tag and sort everything else out.

The major options for repositories right now are the Archive of Our Own and Dreamwidth, both of which seem to offer a fair amount of potential services that I can't capitalize on because they seem designed to reward people who don't have steep learning curves when it comes to understanding their layouts.

As such, is anyone willing to do some hand-holding and soothing in the next week or so?

:-)

I should be around, although I must confess I used the "import" feature on Dreamwidth to put my fic there (to transfer everything on [livejournal.com profile] nightdog_writes to the same journal on DW), and that I've only used Archive of Our Own once. Other than that I'm bang on top of things. /joke/

If you have questions about AO3, I can help!

For Remix Duello, you choose the story for your recipient to remix, so you don't need to set up the tag yet. :-)

Can I import single entries? I don't want everything, just a few pieces here and there.

Do you have an IM client?

I'm still not sure if I should sign up for that, since I don't know what I'd like to see redone.

It looks as if the answer is ... no. It's everything or nothing. :-(

One other archive site is Squidge, although I'm not sure if that many folks are using it anymore (I used it a few times, years ago).

I do--it's been awhile since I used it last. Try ppgppgppg2003 on Yahoo. I have it open.

You can import single entries to AO3. DW imports the whole journal.

I suppose I could just copy-and-paste the HTML and backdate everything.

Good to know, for personal reference if nothing else. Another fact to keep in mind.

Curses! Missed you by that much. Well, maybe later tonight.
