Moving into lockdown mode.

Currently within the main ALA convention center. There's at least ten hotels hosting panels and discussions over this weekend, and some I'd very much enjoy attending if travel wasn't such an issue.

I don't really know what I'm doing here, which isn't helping matters. I should probably track down someone in a position of authority and ask them a few questions on the vague subject of help with job interviews and placements, but even that's looking like a bit much - all I want to do right now is hide where it's not so loud.

I can well imagine that you're feeling adrift in the ocean of people and noise. If it helps to find a quiet spot and regroup for a while, maybe you should.

And it is possible that a non-authority person could lead you to the authority person you might need. If tracking down a bigwig is too intimidating -- and it might be, for me -- perhaps starting lower down the ladder would help, just talking to someone who looks like they know their way around the place.
