It's awfully quiet out here on the Internet tonight. I'm bouncing around trying to settle down and edit a story.

Is anyone around? Am I in the wrong time zone for this sort of thing? How does one attract company, anyway?

It's sore as in 'painful' by the way - a five-hour walk will do that, even in a city.

in paris i learned that the french have a word for this activity. They call it a "dérive" -- it means drift.

I tend to experience such things whenever I go past a store selling books. It's a very distinct parabolic arc.
